Chemical Facial Peel

How does a chemical peel work?

A peel removes several layers of sun-damaged skin cells, leaving fresh skin which has a more even surface and colour. It may stimulate new collagen to be formed improving the skin texture. Peels may result in superficial, moderate depth or deep skin injury.

What skin conditions can be treated with Salicylic Acid?

  • Dehydration / dryness
  • Sensitive skin
  • Sun damage
  • Dull and uneven skin
  • Acne inflammation
  • Psoriasis
  • Ingrown hairs
  • Wrinkles and fine lines (while improving texture and clarity)

What skin conditions can be treated with Lactic Acid?

  • Dark spots
  • Clogged pores
  • Combination skin
  • Rosacea
  • Fine lines

What skin conditions can be treated with Glycolic Peel?

  • Dark spots
  • Fine lines
  • Acne
  • Skin scarring
  • Large pores
  • Oily skin

If you have acne or are concerned about wrinkling skin, glycolic acid may be the more suitable peel because of its ability to penetrate the skin deeper. However, those with sensitive skin may find glycolic acid too harsh and should lean towards a lactic acid peel. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, those with rosacea, where the skin appears red and flushed, should undergo a lactic acid peel. Glycolic acid can exacerbate rosacea.

Are acid peels good for your face?

Good for you! Not only are they important in maintaining the health of your skin, but they are also one of the most effective facial treatments there is. Chemical peels can be used to correct issues such as uneven tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and even acne.

What does an acid peel do to your skin ?

A light chemical peel improves skin texture and tone, lessening the appearance of fine wrinkles. The results are subtle but increase with repeated treatments. If you have a medium chemical peel, treated skin will be noticeably smoother.

Can you see results after 1 peel?

Yes! Many people can see a significant improvement in the appearance of their skin tone and texture in as little as one peel treatment. This is because a peel functions as an exfoliant, which can drastically improve the superficial quality of your skin.

Why am I not peeling after chemical peel?

Why do some people peel but not others? Peeling of the skin can happen post-chemical peel, however, it’s not a requirement. Your likelihood of peeling relies on a few factors: the concentration of the acid, the type of acid, how long the solution is left on for and the amount of solution applied.

Are acid peels worth it?

Chemical peels are absolutely worth it! Chemical peels are one of the most effective non-invasive cosmetic facial treatments and a great way to achieve brighter, smoother skin. This non-invasive treatment removes the outer layer of skin to reveal the healthy, beautiful skin underneath.

How long does an acid peel last?

A light, or superficial, peel produces results that usually last between one and two months. A medium peel’s results will last between two and six months.
